This explains what personal information Shine Local SA collects when you get in touch, why, and what rights you have over it under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
This website is operated by Shelley Anne, trading as Shine Local SA, a South African business helping local small businesses with marketing and online visibility. For the purposes of POPIA, Shine Local SA is the "responsible party" for any personal information collected through this site.
We only collect information you choose to give us. When you use the contact form or message us on WhatsApp, that may include:
We don't use cookies, tracking scripts, or analytics software on this site, and we don't ask for any information beyond what's needed to reply to you.
The contact form on this site does not submit to a server or database. When you press "Send via email," your device opens your own email app with the details you entered already filled in, and the email is sent directly from you to us, the same as if you'd typed it yourself. We never see or store anything you type into the form unless you actually send that email.
If you contact us on WhatsApp instead, that conversation is handled by WhatsApp under their own privacy terms, not this website.
We use the information you send us for one reason: to reply to your enquiry and, if you go ahead, to provide our marketing services to your business. We don't use your details for anything else, and we don't add you to a mailing list without asking first.
Under POPIA, we rely on your consent when you voluntarily send us a message, and, once you become a client, on what's necessary to perform our agreement with you, as the basis for processing your information.
We don't sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. The only exception is where a service we rely on to run this business needs it to function, for example our email provider, and only to the extent needed for that purpose.
We keep enquiry and client communication only for as long as it's reasonably needed, generally for the duration of our working relationship plus a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping, and then it's deleted.
We take reasonable, practical steps to protect the information you share with us from loss, misuse, or unauthorised access, appropriate for a small business handling enquiry and contact details.
You have the right to:
To use any of these rights, just message us using the details below.
This website isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from minors.
We may update this policy from time to time as the business grows. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
If you have any questions about this policy or how your information is handled, get in touch:
If you believe we've mishandled your personal information and we haven't resolved your concern directly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator:
